Newbie resident, Thirteen, was given the task to treat a Patient who doesn’t want go on any longer

Season 4 Episode 3 “97 Seconds”
The final ten fellowship candidates compete ferociously against each other when House splits them into two teams by gender. They are assigned to diagnose and treat a wheelchair user (Brian Klugman) with spinal muscular atrophy who is slowly suffocating. As the teams try to outdo the other, complications arise. Meanwhile, Foreman runs his own team at another hospital, and resorts to using a very “House-like” treatment to help a patient.

  • This episode has an error: House sticks a fork in the wall socket to be dead for a while to see if there is an afterlife; yet some seasons earlier, in the episode where he is diagnosing his own leg case with the students, he says he was clinically dead for a minute, and he was still conciouss.

  • What a difficult and sobering/mature decision to make. A life of intense suffering isn’t a life at all. Fantastic acting by all involved. Watching the dog react was horrifying to see.

  • Man does cancer ever suck. My dad had lung cancer that began to spread. Yes, the extra time with him was something I would never want to give away, but if it were me in the situation, I wouldn't want to continue the pain for longer, I would not go with treatment. My dad had four months before Chemo, after chemo which took about 3 months of his time laying in bed sick, he lasted until around the date of his diagnosis a year later. And throughout that time he was not pain free and relaxed. Cancer is a horrible fucking thing, no matter what type you get, and frankly I'd rather be done with it sooner rather than later. #FuckCancer

  • Some people are so hellbent on dismissing the existence of an afterlife for whatever reason, it's not something you can disprove anyway, just because you have different beliefs (or lack thereof) doesn't mean that the other one is wrong.
